How to Handball
The Handball is used to pass the ball to a team mate quickly and from a short distance. The ball must be held stationary in one hand and punched away with the other. If the ball is thrown with the supporting hand it will be called a throw and the other team will be awarded a free. To start off have the ball cradled in your bottom hand (platform hand), left if right handed and right if left handed. To hit the ball, clench your other fist with your thumb on the outside resting on your index finger, not inside your fist. Then step onto your opposite foot with your toes and knee facing towards your target. Your punching arm has to swing through freely and hit the ball on the tip. Aim to get the ball to spin backwards for more power and accuracy. This can be done by tilting the front of the ball upwards. Punch the ball clearly off of your platform hand but don’t throw the ball up and punch it. Once you get the hang of your natural hand |
